Latin Dancing in Shenzhen: Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba Guide
A practical guide to Shenzhen’s Latin dance scene: weekly salsa, bachata and Kizomba socials, beginner-friendly classes, key venues and how to confirm the latest schedule.
Shenzhen has a friendly, surprisingly active Latin dance scene built around salsa, bachata and Kizomba. Most nights are social rather than performance-focused: you can arrive alone, join an introductory class, ask someone to dance and meet a mix of local and international dancers.
The important thing to know is that schedules move. A weekly party may change bars, pause for a holiday or become a themed edition, so use this guide to find the right community—and confirm that week’s poster before travelling.

Tuesday: Latin Passion at Sicilia
Latin Passion’s Tuesday party is one of the easiest entry points into the scene. It is currently listed every Tuesday from 9:30 PM to 1:00 AM at Sicilia on the Shopping Park bar street. Expect a bachata-heavy playlist with salsa and Kizomba, a proper social-dance crowd and guest instructors or DJs on selected weeks.
Recent listings show ¥68 presale or ¥88 at the door, including one cocktail or non-alcoholic drink. Treat that as a guide rather than a permanent price and check the latest organizer poster before attending.

Wednesday: Mi Casa Es Su Casa at Revolucion Cocktail
Wednesday at Revolucion Cocktail is the most approachable option if you want Latin music without committing to a full studio night. The weekly listing mixes bachata and salsa in a lively cocktail-bar setting, so it works well for a first social or a group of friends where not everyone is an experienced dancer.
The current schedule lists a 7:30 PM start and free entry, with food promotions sometimes offered earlier in the evening. Follow @revolucioncocktail_shenzhen for the week’s announcement.

Thursday: check the current Latin Passion venue
Thursday listings currently point to Latin socials at PP Bar and PEUAPEU X in Futian. One published format begins with a free bachata footwork class around 8:30 PM, followed by social dancing from approximately 9:15 PM to 1:00 AM. Other listings place the Latin Passion party at PEUAPEU X from 9:30 PM.
Because the venue information is not fully consistent across current directories, confirm Thursday directly with Latin Passion before setting out. This is exactly the kind of Shenzhen night where the newest WeChat or social-media poster is more reliable than an older calendar entry.
Saturday: Latin Passion’s studio social in Chegongmiao
For a dance-first night, Latin Passion’s Saturday SBK social is the strongest regular option. The studio has hosted simultaneous rooms—one for Kizomba and another for bachata and salsa—so dancers can switch styles without leaving the venue. Saturday editions often include classes before the social and occasionally use a theme or dress code.
Latin Passion: classes, intensives and events throughout the week
Latin Passion is not only the organizer behind one Saturday party. It operates as a full dance academy and community hub, with daytime and evening training, private lessons, short intensives, guest-teacher workshops and social events across the week. The exact timetable changes by month, so the studio publishes new schedules and workshop posters rather than promising one permanent time for every class.
What you can learn
Bachata: foundations, rhythm, body movement, partner connection, leading and following, combinations, Sensual Bachata, Urban Bachata and Bachazouk.
Kizomba family: Kizomba, Urban Kiz, Tarraxo, Tarraxinha and Semba, with dedicated technique and partner-work sessions.
Other social styles: salsa, merengue, Kompa, Bolero and Vallenato appear in the wider class and party program.
Styling and performance: Lady Styling, heels, body control, musical choreography and video-project intensives.
Focused training: private lessons, multi-week bootcamps, visiting-teacher masterclasses and festival preparation.
The regular Saturday format
The current official schedule advertises a partner class from 3:00–4:30 PM, followed by the Passion Saturday social from 9:30 PM–1:00 AM. The party uses two rooms: one for Kizomba-family music and another for Bachata and Salsa. Current advertised prices are ¥88 early bird for the party, ¥128 at the door, or ¥248 for the class-and-party package, with unlimited soft drinks. Check the newest poster because guest teachers, themes and prices may change.
Current workshop example: Social Barn Bachata Intensive
Social Barn in Shekou is running a September Bachata intensive as four Saturday sessions, with the final session on 26 September 2026, 4:00–6:00 PM. The program covers Bachata foundations, rhythm, body movement, lead/follow and usable combinations. It is designed for complete beginners, newer dancers and anyone wanting concentrated practice. The listed rate is ¥199 for one session or ¥688 for the four-week, eight-hour program.
How to get the real weekly timetable: follow @latinpassion_dance_academy, check the studio Class highlight, or message LatinPassionCarol on WeChat. For Shekou classes, follow Yoli or contact Social Barn directly. Tell them your level, preferred style, district and available days so they can place you in the right class.
Latin Passion combines structured training with a social dance community.Classes range from beginner foundations to focused workshops and styling projects.
Classes and studios
Latin Passion Dance Studio — Futian
Latin Passion is the central organizer in Shenzhen’s current SBK scene. Its curriculum includes bachata, Kizomba, Tarraxo and Urban Kiz, with beginner-to-advanced group classes and private training. The Chegongmiao studio is also used for Saturday socials, workshops and special events.
Social Barn Dance Academy — Shekou
Social Barn is a useful Nanshan alternative for dancers who do not want to cross the city for every class. It is associated with the same wider community and offers Latin dance training near Huaguoshan metro station in Shekou.
Where: Room 110, ground floor, Haixiang Building, near Huaguoshan station Exit B, Nanshan
What should beginners expect?
You can go alone. Social dancing normally involves changing partners, so bringing a partner is optional.
Try the class first. A pre-party beginner class gives you enough vocabulary to enjoy the social afterward.
Ask clearly and accept gracefully. A simple gesture and “Would you like to dance?” is enough. Anyone can decline.
Wear comfortable shoes. Choose a clean sole that turns easily but still feels stable; avoid sticky running shoes.
Do not teach on the dance floor. Keep unsolicited corrections out of a social dance unless your partner asks.
Bring WeChat. Shenzhen organizers often announce venue changes, registration and guest teachers through WeChat groups or poster QR codes.
Salsa, bachata or Kizomba—which night should you choose?
Salsa is energetic and rhythmically busy, with turns and quick partner work. Bachata is the most common entry point in Shenzhen’s current socials and ranges from playful Dominican footwork to smooth modern or sensual styles. Kizomba uses a closer connection and grounded movement; dedicated Kizomba rooms and classes are the best place to learn its etiquette rather than copying what you see from the edge of the floor.
If you are completely new, choose the night offering an introductory lesson. If you already dance, check the advertised music ratio: a “Latin night” can mean anything from a serious SBK social to a reggaeton-heavy club party.
Special Latin parties
Beyond the weekly schedule, watch for themed Latin Passion socials, one-off events at King’s Bar, and touring Yonaguni Fiesta nights. King’s Bar has hosted beginner-friendly bachata and salsa socials with an introductory class, while Yonaguni is a larger reggaeton-led club experience rather than a traditional partner-dance social.
The community is welcoming, but the calendar is fluid. Follow Latin Passion for regular SBK dancing, Revolucion for a casual Wednesday night and the individual bars for themed or holiday socials. Once you join one event, ask for the relevant WeChat group—the most accurate Shenzhen Latin dance calendar often lives there.
